This work begins with structures found in the world that seem to anticipate the photographic gesture. Frames, openings, traces and residual forms already delimit portions of space before the camera intervenes. Photography encounters these structures and frames them again, producing an image within an image, a selection within a selection.

As the work unfolds, the frame gradually loses its literal form. It becomes a mark, a surface, an absence, sometimes only the trace of something that was there. These structures seem to organize space, while at the same time revealing its instability. What initially appears as a recurring shape becomes a provisional way of looking: a device through which reality is isolated, displaced and made visible.
